Topic: would you wear real fur? Posted: 11 May 2006 at 2:43pm |
i watched a programme about paul and heather mcartney campaigning against the use of fur, mostly of domestic cats and dogs from china. they showed a video of an alsation dog being skinned alive. it was terrible. after watching it i wouldn't wear fur but also shown in the programme was the fact that you could buy real fur thinking that it was fake as there is no current legslation to label things as real fur or not.
would you wear real fur?

Do you wear real leather shoes? What about you ladies, do you have real leather handbags?

It's a free country, adopt whatever PC stance you want. Just don't tell me which stance I should take just because it clashes with your opinion.

they mentioned that briefly in the programme aswell but somehow it doesn't seem as bad. i do wear leather shoes and handbags but i wouldn't wear fur. especially domestic cat and dog fur, that is just inhumane.

I love real fur. It looks wonderful on those creature who were born with it! On humans? Yuk! I never have and I never would wear real fur. I have worn fake fur but it is difficult to tell the difference these days, so it is better to avoid it altogether. There really should be some legislation to enforce labelling to say if it is real or fake. Unfortunately cultures do share feelings about the use of animals. I abhor the killing of animals for the sole use of clothing and fashion. I do not buy leather handbags but yes, I admit to wearing leather shoes but prefer not to if there is an alternative. I like to think of shoe leather as a by-product of the food industry.
I am a meat eater because that is how I was brought up. I wish I could be vegetarian but it is difficult to change the habits of a lifetime.
Please - do not wear fur.

This is like smoking, years ago it was ok, years ago fur was worn to survive. There will always people who exploit whatever situation. Personally I would not wear fur but I can understand why some do, if you are going to bang on the door about principles and what seems right or wrong then you must go the whole hog, and hand on heart, even my bestest friend who will not eat meat because it is cruel, absolutly loves her jimmy choos and gucci handbag.... need I say more..
