Did Mr Willoughby not have a shop in earlier days next to the White Heart pub?

I think that shop was owed by Mr. Harris

Yes, Mrs. Heath (not related to Heath Stores) Did work in Mr. Willoughby's shoe shop, this was next "Readers"

And as converi says about the fish-n-chip shop, the fryer was on the left, the chairs were on the right behind a glass panel.

I remember the chippy. I was a cub and scout in the 60's and when they collected newspaper as a fund raising project selling it to the paper mill, me and my mate used to pinch a bundle and take it to the chip shop in exchange for free fish and chips
