The ability to take your own booze into the Sreethi carries a distinct appeal for some and differentiates it from the other two Indians in the village, both of which have more established reputations. If it gains a licence it might therefore lose its niche...

yes i agree, however i have also been in there when a group of lads produce a party 7 barrel and then get very leary with it, it may stop the idiots doing this sort of daft thing..... also for those who dont know to take their own wont be embarrassed again !
i think it will lose its niche... but i thinkl they are thinking financially there is a big mark up on drink in those places...

Yup, that's a shame. £5 for a bottle of wine at Threshers will cost £12 in the restaurant.
Can we object to the licence? After all, it was supposed to be a tea room.

I was in Tripti on Friday night, and they're applying for planning permission to extend out the back and add 40 more covers!

Yup, Tripti is going to extend, Sreethi get a licence,
Tabla's going strong and with the new Turkish
place we can all eat happily ever after... I've always
felt the more restaurants (of any kind, including
Mustapha's beloved yellow van) the better... why
does everyone whinge when a new restaurant
appears?

More choice equals more competition, which should mean cheaper prices...
I think people whinged when the Sreethi turned out to be an Indian; the
eat-in Indian market is a little saturated in Chalfont, and there's a
noticeable lack of a sit-down Chinese or an Italian..

Absolutely the more restaurants the better, but they need to provide good quality and different varieties. A decent chinese or italian would mean more people could eat in the village as opposed to going further afield.

i went out to amersham last night, for indian, just fancied a change from the 3 in the village, it was very good, will do a seperate reveiw in the reveiws column....
sadly i think streethi unique selling point is the fact is you can take your own booze, if they go licenced they become more like their competition- i hope they dont loose their ' positive edge' over this issue...
