I think his name was Ayris, PC to his mates! he lived down the road from me at the time. He used to sit in his little Ford Escort van outside the Poachers/Bakers Arms on Friday and Saturday nights. He seemed to keep things orderly.

The NAG was represented at both Feast Day and Fun Night (approx 6000 in attendance each event) and also had questions included on the recent village survey whcih had a 30% plus return so villagers views are being heard/actioned.
Current top three issues are speeding, parking and anti social behaviour based on public concerns.

speeding should be excess speeding late night,
NOT doing 31 in a 30 at 7am which is the only thing that seems to be given Priority. |

Anti social behaviour, the drug problem (its massive) and the real bad speeders as in the clown in the brown banger who does 60-70 up Market Place

The village has around 14,000 people. How many responded to the questionnaire? I saw and replied to the questionaire even though it was biased and loaded. Don't pretend you have the support of the 6000 people on Feast Day or the 2000 people on fun night. They were not there to support NAG. People see a car driven up Market Place at night doing 70mph, of course they put speeding as a concern. NAG then manipulate this to say people want a 40mph speed limit on the A413. Peoples top concern in the village is not drivers edging over 30mph on clear roads. Main concern is antisocial behaviour which includes uninsured drivers speeding at night in stolen cars. Not the same as speeding. NAG is a danger to the ordinary people of the village as they claim to represent the majority but are speaking without authority. |

The NAG will change their priorities when they feel that the previous have been addressed and resolved. The next NAG meeting is in April, this will be addressed then.
Over the past month, TV Police has seen roughly the same amount of calls about anti-social behaviour as parking issues. The speeding is residential to the roads like Lower Road and Lovel Road, this is where our next speed enforcement day will address these roads, by law we can not do a speed enforcement at night due to saftey reasons (This is not our fault but the goverments, hence why you need to call us to let us know.).
From the surveys we gave out, we have had a 32% return (3000 approx) which is the largest any parish has seen ina long time.
With regards to the vehicle speeding up market place...
when was it and did you call us?
If you did, you obtain a registration? If so, we would have traced them.
If not, then we would have put observations out for any officers in vehicles in the area to follow.
If we didnt receive the phone call, then as usual, people have relied on others to sort the problem and no one called us.
If we dont know about it, we cant sort it. Edited by PCSO Brennan - 11 February 2010 at 4:06pm |
