Just spotted this on the BBC website.

Thats one way of tackling the speeders.

I would follow them around and as soon as they jay walk or throw away a cigarette butt, I would fine them £100.

If we are to live in a police state, lets do everybody.

Probably. There's probably one for 'looking at me funny' as well!

I always thought there was but now you say it, I can't find anything.

All these years I've been using pedestrian crossings when I was free to amble diagonally across the road!

Ah, there is a law against loitering on crossings. Other than that it's ok.

Hey, perhaps 'speeding'* is OK then.  It would surely deter people from doing something illegal, such as loitering on a crossing.

Paul

* "Speeding": Travelling faster than permitted by law, although 80% of the population know the speed limits are too low.  Contributes to "The law is an ass" syndrome, a view increasingly held by the majority as a result of the legal definition of "speeding".

I thought there was a recent legal question mark raised over the accuracy of these speed guns?

These interferring old busy-bodies need a good strobe light shone in their faces, that'd soon make them think again about their stupid antics.
