Message from Royal British Legion covering Remembrance Sunday 8th November 2020 in Chalfont St Peter.

We very much regret that due to the Covid-19 virus the decision has been taken that the annual Remembrance Sunday Service held in the church after the Act of Remembrance at the Memorial in the Church grounds will NOT be held on Sunday 8th November. Due to the Government regulations to prevent the risk of infection the marching band and parade with standard bearers will not be permitted. However, a few members of the Royal British Legion with local Clergy will gather at the War Memorial at 2.45 p.m. to observe the two minutes silence, the Exhortation and Kohima Epitaph and the names of the fallen will be read. As Government guidelines do not permit large groups of people, please avoid the Church Grounds between 2.30 pm and 3.30pm on Remembrance Sunday 8th November.

Organisations and individuals wishing to present their wreaths as is their custom please note that wreaths will be laid on their behalf by the British Legion as it will not be possible to supervise adequate social distancing in the Churchyard. Those wishing to lay wreaths personally are welcome to do so at another time of their choosing. For information regarding wreaths to be laid at the ceremony by the Legion please contact the Branch Chairman, Mr. Trevor York on 01494 875072 or 07534113968 to make the necessary arrangements.
