Once again they've referred to SSVC as being in GX

It doesn't happen that often but every now and again these unsigned stories refer to CSP places as being in GX . Are some of them supplied by an agency I wondered?

If you have a complaint about a news story in the
Advertiser, the best and correct way of having it dealt
with is by contacting the news editor Estelle Sinkins
on 01753 888333.
I happen to look here regularly when I am in the
office. My colleagues rarely do.
I have previously mentioned the majority of stories
are written by Ben, Luke and I, with some cross over
stories written by our news editor and colleagues at
the Examiner.
This is not agency copy. I have brought it to the
attention of the news editor, and the person who
wrote it is well aware SSVC is in Chalfont St Peter,
but the press release stated Gerrards Cross. We
are only human and mistakes are sometimes made.

As for the Osbournes. Their home is within the
electoral boundaries of Chalfont St Peter.

I see Luke is writing more stories now Sarah; good for him. I would write a critique on his work but am far too lazy and am in awe of people who appear to write about 50,000 words a week! Also, another fine column this week - is your home internet connection up yet?

I used to be with it. But then they changed what it was. Now what I'm with isn't it, and what's it seems scary and weird.

Sarah,

I notice that in your column you said that someone at the meeting in the WH did not recognise you because you no longer look like your picture. I am now really intrgued and would like to suggest that you have the picture at the top of your column updated so we, your public, can see what you really look like!

Isn't the full address Chalfont St Peter, Gerrards Cross, Buckinghamshire???

<Malc lights the blue touchpaper and retires to a safe distance....>

Yes, when' that going to change? Wasn't there something in the paper about it last year for a while? Someone was getting a petition up or something and the Post Office basically told them to shove it where the sun shineth not.

My internet connection is back up and running Dan,
after a few stern telephone calls to the poor
unfortunates working in the Indian call centre. I have
also made a stern telephone call to the finance
department and demanded a six day refund.

Luke hasn't exactly been writing more stories, he's
just getting more leads now. He does put together
the plans every week, which is the painful job of
every newbie, which Ben is happy to have got rid of
now.

I never take such comments personally and do not
respond to them personally. I am not upset, just
pointing out the correct way to have something dealt
with effectively, rather than relying on someone from
the paper spotting a complaint by chance.

It was the first time I haven't bought the Bucks Ad in ages this week - been too busy to get out much!!

I'm always impressed they manage to receive sufficient leads and write enough info to fill a paper every week - and still have time for a cheeky pint in the white hart  or red lion.

Moni and 'Snooper' have not been reporters with the
Buckinghamshire Advertiser for four months.
Plus two people drinking at their local during the
weekend doesn't count.

He is the editor, he is not a reporter.
You will not find Ben, Luke or myself in the pub
during working hours because we do not have time
and eat our lunches at our desks.
I felt it was important to respond to this myth about
journalists in the pub, because the three of us would
not get the paper written if we didn't put the time in.

How's his editing after a few beers? Is it possible to tell which stories have been edited after a few libations at the pub?

Anyway, I am always in awe of people who can put a newspaper together, especially as there are so few of you. Keep up the good work and I hope somebody who moans on here, one day, takes the time to phone you so you can go on the record with them.

I am sure the staff at the Bux Ad would appreciate
that. It is very easy to moan and complain. I am sure
the reporters do an excellent job with somewhat
limited resources. After all, the newspaper "belongs"
to its readers. So more people should get involved
and give them stories rather than worrying how
much time they spend in the pub or not.

There is lots going on in the area and if people want
to see particular things in the newspaper they need
to get in contact.

I am sure the offices in The Vale are fully equipped
with computers, notepads and pens.

However, I suspect the one thing they don't have is a
crystal ball.

Indeed Pedro If we had a crystal ball our job
would be so much easier. Sadly I've never found a
working one.

And thank you also for your comments DanW. I still
have the day to look forward to when I get to chat
properly to a forum member about a story, on the
record.

I'm quite scared people can see me but i can't see them!

Hello! I was in there again last night to watch liverpool v juventus (luis
garcia...hmmm...nice...and wot a goal!!!!! Pity about the away goal).
And can i just say, the 8oz beer battered haddock was superb although i was
soooo hungry i did wallop it down a tad too quickly and it was so huge!

to keep this post in line with the subject of the topic, I've subbed quite a lot of
Bucks pages this week and it really is impressive how many stories the three
reporters manage to churn out. And not be too knackered to have some kind
of life at the weekend.

Well ten brownie points down to the bucks advetisier, whilst the need to make money the little people count and the little people told me tonight, you are lacking in customer services big time. You are not covering the little people who are actually the big people at the end of the day.

1. cover the brownies

2. c.o.c the chamber we need full public awareness and history

3. csp feast date n eds more public notification

4. hello are you listening or does the computer say No...

Thank you for your post Helen.
As reporters we are not interested in money, but
interested in getting as much local news as
possible.
Could you please tell me how we are not covering
the Brownies?
Have the Brownies sent us information about events
which have not been covered?
Where do the Brownies promote their events? Ben
will head around there and have a look.
Has any information be sent in abot the Chalfont St
Peter feast day?
Where are the posters to publicise it so a reporter
can start gathering information?

The editor has responded on the Chamber of
Commerce issue, hence I have ammended my post
and reference to it is made elsewhere.

As for the final point there's no need to be nasty. I'm
sure you're aware there are only three of us who
write the newspaper. We do our utmost to gather as
much news as possible, but we are not psychic.
This week up until today there have only been two
reporters because I've been down with a cold after
spending two hours in the driving rain and hail
covering Sir John Mills' funeral last week.
As much as we do try to look around at noticeboards
to gather information and follow things up, people do
need to get in touch with us with their news. There is
no crystal ball.
We are more than happy to talk with people, visit
people and find out what's going on.
Ben covers Chalfont St Peter, Chalfont St Giles and
Gerrards Cross.
I cover Beaconsfield, Denham, Seer Green and
Penn.
Luke covers Iver, the Farnhams, Hedgerley and
Fulmer.
But we all take on any area and any story, as you'll
note I've been covering the recycling issue
extensively.
We are interested in the little people, we are
interested in all stories, but as I said before, we're
not psychic.
Please do get in touch by telephone on 01753
888333 or e-mail bucksnews@trinitysouth.co.uk.
