There is a new anti-social behaviour officer - Iain MacKilligan at Chiltern DC who can be contacted on 01494 732177

Who are the other contacts? I think Sarah gave a community Police contact but I can't find it.

As for phoning 999 last night, forget it. They don't take that sort of crime seriously.

They weren't too impressed when I phoned them about kids smashing the lights in the underpass.

So when do you use 999, what is the level of crime required to use that service.

I once used 999 when I saw a car on fire down my street (no-one in it and it was not likely so set fire to anything else, so it was not really an emergency).

elaborate on the situation (if this is the correct spelling) Say somebody has been stabbed.

It's a free country, adopt whatever PC stance you want. Just don't tell me which stance I should take just because it clashes with your opinion.

Members of the public are asked to phone 999 only in an emergency. What do you regard as an emergency?

A: An emergency is an incident which requires an IMMEDIATE police response, for example:
  • where there is danger to life
  • where there is a risk of serious injury
  • where a crime is in progress or about to happen
  • where an offender is still at the scene or has just left.
Remember when contacting the police -

If you are a witness to an incident then you may need to describe those involved, or explain in detail what actually happened. Pay attention to people's height, build, hair colour and length, and in particular their clothes. Write down what you saw or describe the people involved.

If the incident involves violence, you should not intervene unless you are confident you can do so safely – instead, call the police immediately.

If you see a crime or offence being committed report it - or ask someone else to report it while you continue to watch what happens. Don't just assume someone else will have already reported it.

If the incident does not need to be reported via the 999 system you should use Thames Valley Police's non-emergency number: 0845 8 505 505.
