Master Moggies (aged 9) has come home with a project to be completed in a week, on water

He needs to do a report or something similar on the following:

Please could people give their views on:

1) Climate change, melting of the icecaps, global warming etc - how much do you think people are aware and how could awareness be raised of thes issues?

2) Use of water - how should we all try to help conserve water? Or should we do it at all? Should water companies do more and if so what?

(Please be assured that he will certainly have his mum's fully expressed opinion on 3VW)

Any opinions gratefully received....thank you!

That's very useful - thank you.

What are your opinions on how to raise peoples' awareness and on water conservation issues at the moment eg hosepipe bans...?

The 'bbc london tonight' are doing a special all this week about what we can do to save water. They are asking people for their ideas and the information will be posted on the bbc wedsite. hope this will help.

In Florida, everyone has a water meter which really makes you much more careful!

We take showers not baths, turn the taps off while cleaning our teeth instead of leaving them running, and make sure the grass is watered just once a week overnight to ensure that the heat of the day doesn't evaporate it before it does any good!

Water theft is a big though problem - people hook hosepipes up to their neighbours' supply if they know they are away etc. We have tap locks on all our external taps.

People are much more aware of water over there - most counties have schemes where you can get connected to reclaimed reserves (rainwater) to use for watering the garden and cleaning the car etc - charged at a much lower rate.

i applied to have a water meter put in on my place but because it is a ex council house and next door is still a council house the pipes are still joined so i was told i would be paying for there water as well as my own ,but i am still looking into it (oh and the electric is the same if i want to move the meter outside) i gave up on the gas
