I'm conducting researching for a publication to be sold for an educational charity, on the subject of Chalfont St Peter in World War One. Obviously the war dead are documented and I'm aware that Chalfont Park was turned into a military hospital. I'd be very grateful though if anyone has any info on other issues, such as any local munitions factories, refugees, other places used as hospitals or places of recuperation for WW1 troops, German spies arrested, etc etc. I know none of this will come from living memory, but if any of you heard your grandparents speak of how the Great War affected the village, I'd be grateful to know. For example, I understand it killed off the bodger's trade, and I imagine many places lost their domestic and gardening staff. Cheers.
