Feast Day - 30th June This year’s Feast Day event will take place on Gold Hill Common on Saturday 30th June starting at 10.15am. 104 stalls
will surround the Fairweather Insurance Arena providing a range of goods,
activities and information on local clubs, societies and organisations. There will also be a fun fair and a traditional Punch and Judy show sponsored by Chalfont Osteopathic Practice (Preston Lee). The Fairweather Insurance arena will host several activities during the day including school dancing and gymnastics displays, a falconry demonstration and a classic car drive through. The Parish
Council stage will showcase a number of singing and dancing acts during the day
and is the setting for the evening concert by Fleetwood Bac, supported by the
Midnight Rebel band. The evening
will culminate with the lighting of the Jubilee Beacon by the Parish Council at
around 10.30pm. Car parking
on the day is free in the Church Lane car park and a shuttle bus will operate between
there and Gold Hill Common throughout the day. Please note that there is no
car-parking (except for pass holders and those with disabled blue badges) on
site. Programmes
(sponsored by RWS Group) are now on sale from the Parish Church offices in
Church Lane and Gold Hill Baptist Church on Gold Hill, the Stationery Store and
Richard Adams pharmacy in Marketplace, the Handy Stores Mini Mart on Gold Hill
and the Community Library in the High Street. Priced at just £1.50, every penny
raised goes towards local good causes. Programmes will, of course, be available
to purchase on the day. The
organisers would like to thank all of the other sponsors for their support –
the Parish Church, Gold Hill Baptist Church, Tim’s Dairy, Thorpe House and
Kingscote School and Rachael Bree at the White Hart for funding the new Feast
Day flags that look fantastic flying in the village. The
organisers are looking to make this year’s event the “greenest” yet and,
working with Change4Chalfont and Chiltern District Council, will be seeking to
recycle as much litter and refuse as possible from the day. Those attending are
asked to dispose of litter sensibly in the bins provided or take it home with
them. Last year over 4 tons of rubbish had to be removed from the Common. In this
regard, volunteers are sought for helping with the Sunday morning clear up
which will start at 8am. Just turn up. The more volunteers that assist, the
quicker the Common can be cleared. Full details of the event can be found at www.feastofstpeter.org.ukThe organising committee would also welcome interest from anyone willing to contribute towards the organising of the 2013 event and can be contacted on enquiries@feastofstpeter.org.uk |
