Change4Chalfont - Film night: The End of Suburbia  Friday 1st October at 8pm

Change4Chalfont presents a screening of The End of Suburbia.

American suburbia was born after the Second World War - vast estates of homes for the upwardly mobile and newly wealthy were built from scratch where nothing had previously existed.  In an era when oil was plentiful and cheap, it didn't matter that these communities were miles from all that they needed to survive.

But as supplies of easily available oil begin to diminish, serious questions are beginning to emerge about the sustainability of a way of life which is so dependent on car travel.  What effect will soaring energy prices have on the millions living in suburbia?  How will these populations react when their American Dream begins to collapse?  Most importantly what can be done now, individually and collectively, to mitigate the effects?  And what lessons are there for us to learn as the planet approaches a critical era?

Come and see The End of Suburbia at 8pm in the Parish Church Hall, Church Lane, Chalfont St Peter.  Have a glass of wine, cup of coffee or tea, and some delicious home-made cake.   Entrance is free; contributions would be very welcome.

Change4Chalfont is based in Chalfont St Peter.  We aim to work with our community to reduce our impact on climate change and our dependence on fossil fuels.

	Yes we have film nights booked on Friday 1st October (End of Suburbia), Saturday 6th November and Friday 10th December, and then continuing each month next year. Full details to be finalised very shortly so watch this space. Maybe if you haven't been before then it is a good opportunity to come along and find out more about what we are doing.
