    Posted: 04 November 2009 at 9:22am
A research survey has been designed to consult all residents of the village to establish their opinions and wishes in relation to living in Chalfont St Peter.  What is important, what isn't, what are the priorities, how the village should be developed.

The research covers all aspects of living in the village, and the analysis is done on an anonymous basis, so we want your honest opinions please - we need to know so that the parish council and various groups, including the VDS Group, can plan what actions they should be taking on your behalf.  It will be used to develop a Parish Plan for the future.

The questionnaires for this survey will be delivered by volunteers direct to all homes in Chalfont St Peter next week.  Please look out for them, and let us know (01753 891582) if you have not received an envelope/ questionnaire by 15th November.

If you did not receive the earlier postcard, or if you know of any area not coverered then we would be very grateful to hear if there any distribution gaps we need to fill - it is important that everyone is given an opportunity to have their say.

The aggregated results will be published early in 2010.

That's the answer - what's the question?

Would it not have been better to have produced this survey before this Saturday's meeting? At least then you would have a clearer indication as to what the population of the village think and therfore be able to present and discuss the survey's findings, on a more public platform.

With the benefit of hindsight, yes, probably.

But the survey decision was only made 4 weeks ago, and Saturday's meeting was planned (date set) several months ago as part of the VDS project.  The meeting is still almost entirely about the VDS plans.  However, new things have come up: CDC Draft Core Housing Strategy, and the Holy Cross deveveloper's exhibition.

The VDS in itself did not necessarily require a full consultation survey, sometimes there is one, sometimes not.  I think the CDC proposals tipped the balance.

The Parish Plan consultation is about all aspects of living here, although of course it will feed into the VDS (which will probably be complete around next February) and to our response to CDC about their housing proposals (due early January), and to responses to the Holy Cross developers (the sooner the better).   So, it is still in time, and the findings will be published, but we are not sure yet what to do specifically by way of public discussions about the findings.  Watch this space.

Every household should now have received this survey - in a white envelope with red print - so if you haven't got yours please let me know or call the council offices 01753 891582 for copies of the questionnaire.

Replies are requested by the end of the month, so that results can be available before Christmas and used in the council's action plan in respect of development proposals.  A public meeting on the findings (and actions) is being planned for January).

A (very few) small gaps in distribution were identified and filled.  Huge thanks go to the volunteers who stuffed the envelopes and those who trudged the streets of CSP for deliveries to doors.

We have had an excellent response: nearly 3,000 people have sent in their completed questionnaire, and some are still trickling in. That is nearly three times as many as completed and returned the postcard. Thank you to those who bothered.

There's a lot of work to be done on coding and data entry and analysis, but some top-line figures will be available in just over a week, with reports and presentation in January/February.

The consultation survey results will be presented to the public on Saturday 13th February at 10:30am at Chalfont Community College, Narcot Lane,  SL9 8TP
There will be an opportunity to discuss the latest position in respect of  CDC's proposed housing developments in the village, and the meeting will be attended by our MP Cheryl Gillan.

The survey results will also be published on the parish council web site in February http://www.chalfontstpeter-pc.gov.uk/index.html

Also there is an online survey about people's perceptons of CDC's consultation (they claim they consulted all residents back in 2008.  http://www.surveymk.com/s/S4CSPpoll1
It will only take two minutes to answer the five questions.

Don't forget the public meeting this morning at 10.30am at Chalfonts Community College, Narcot Lane to hear the results of the Parish Council's Consultation Survey, and also have a chance to ask Cheryl Gillan MP any questions.
