0870 Phone Numbers

   I was surprised to receive an unsolicited phone call this morning from someone who said he worked for BT Retail and “would you like to make money from any telemarketing activity you do”?  

I asked how that works.  Easy – give out an 0870 number and we’ll pay you 1.35p per minute for all calls to that number. Can be telemarketing, support,  anything you like. The more calls you get and the longer the caller is on the line, the more you make!

Well, I thought I’d share that on the forum.  I’m amazed.  It translated into "Please help us rip people off, and, BTW, make a profit yourself whilst you're doing it.  Makes pyramid selling look legit!  I’ll not be dialling 0870 ever again if I can possibly help it.

Also, FYI:
1. After some research I found a dedicated Website  about this, and
2. My BT caller only offered 1.35ppm – the going rate looks pike 2ppm! I felt twice cheated!!
