However, the leather the animals that are killed for both meat and
leather are killed humanely whereas many of the animals killed for fur
are not. In some instances they are not even killed before being
skinned.

This is like smoking, years ago it was ok, years ago fur was worn to survive. There will always people who exploit whatever situation. Personally I would not wear fur but I can understand why some do, if you are going to bang on the door about principles and what seems right or wrong then you must go the whole hog, and hand on heart, even my bestest friend who will not eat meat because it is cruel, absolutly loves her jimmy choos and gucci handbag.... need I say more.. |
This is a difficult one, I eat meat but would like to be a vegetarian, as for leather, if the animal died naturally then its fine. but to go the whole hog then you should only eat fruit thats naturally fallen from the tree and nothing more, that Kleenex tissue commercial makes me laugh when a monk sneezing in the tissue and a voice over say that the tissue kills 99% germs and the look of horror on his face

I agree Becky, killing any animal just for its fur is disgusting. Leather is a by-product of food and so that's not as bad.
Mink underwear J.R.???? Do you know from experience that it's nice to wear?? Or is that just wishful thinking?

It's a free country, adopt whatever PC stance you want. Just don't tell me which stance I should take just because it clashes with your opinion.

I'm with the majority on this - have never worn fur and never will.
Leather shoes - yes, as leather is a by-product of cattle being killed for meat. Alligator shoes etc? Absolutely not!
As Jessama says, fur looks great - on the animal born with it.

One foot in the grave was on last week and it was the one where Victor had a job as a door man at a very posh hotel and two people pulled up in a taxi and as they got out asked victor to get there fur coat, Victor replied something like "If you hadn't chopped its legs off it would have happy jumped out the taxi on its own"

The fashion world seems to be slipping back into saying that real fur is acceptable and trendy. I think they should bring back the adverts showing models trailing blood soaked coats across the cat walk...
I won't make friends by saying this but I have a certain amount of sympathy with many animal rights activists......But yes, I do use medicines and wear leather and eat meat....
