Here's a comment for the Bucks Advertiser...

How about making a contribution towards the village Hanging baskets and Xmas trees? Presumably the village supplies at least some of your news items and adverts, so how about returning the favour?

let's be careful out there

If you have a message for the Advertiser you're better off sending an e-mail to the newsroom or calling 01753 888333.

However, as a former member of staff I would point out the newsroom doesn't have a budget for such things. Any sponsorship is dealt with directly by the promotions department which is based in Reading, so the reporters wouldn't be able to help anyway.

I wasn't lost, I was promoted, and very happy I am too with my new job.

The reporters don't actually lay out the Community Voice pages, they're
put together by the news sub editing team in Uxbridge.

Interviews are the work of the reporters, and praise for these is great for
them.

If you want to have a problem page, why not e-mail the editor Julie
Voyce? I'm sure she'd be interested in any suggestions.
I happen to sub-edit the Dear Dilys column which appears in the Surrey
Informers. I think it might even go into some of the West London Leaders,
but I'm not sure.
The issue is really one of space. You'd have to commit half a page to it. I
don't know how things are at the moment, but when I was at the
Advertiser, we wanted more space for editorial, but had to make do with
what we got.

In response to Larry Loafer's initial question. I am Julie Voyce,
the new editor of the Buckinghamshire Advertiser. I was
approached for the first time about giving a contribution to the
lights, hanging baskets etc on Thursday last week. I have
arranged for a cheque to be sent to the Chalfont St Peter
Village Association which they should receive this week. I
agree it is important that we as a newspaper contribute
towards these things.

I am sorry for not responding sooner but, I'll be honest, I have
only just discovered this site.

Please feel free to let me know anything you would like to see
added to the newspaper and I will see what I can do.

This Thursday is the first week of our new look Community
Voice so please make sure you get a copy to have a look. I'll be
interested to hear your reactions.

I have also added a Memory Lane page and encourage any readers
with old pictures or memories of the area to get in touch. I am
particularly keen to print old school pictures, so please have a
look if you have any and drop them in to us at our office in The
Vale. We can copy them while you wait.

We are also now printing wedding reports and new baby reports.
These are printed free of charge and forms are available at
reception or we can send you one if you call the office on 01753
888333. We are also happy to print special anniversary reports,
golden, diamond etc, and 100th birthdays etc so please give us a
call.

Thanks for your support.

Julie

Welcome Julie and thanks for the cheque for the baskets etc.

Can you do any special offers for adverts for local school fairs? I know you don't charge the VAT but a freebie or cheap ad would be good

Still don't know what I want to do when I grow up...

We are happy to put items in our What's On listing for free and
also you can ask your Community Voice representative to put
the item in their column. As far as an actual advert goes that
would have to be arranged with the advertising department. You
can call the advertising manager Ayse Ledger on 01494 792626
who should be able to help you further with prices etc. However,
I think it is unlikely that they will give any adverts away for
free!

You're right - they charge, even for charities

Thanks for your help, Julie...

Welcome Julie (to the Bucks Ad, CSP and this site). It is great to see that you are printing Wedding and Baby reports (nice to see some happy news). I remember when these used to appear in the Bucks Examiner (I grew up in Chesham).

Will you be frequenting the White Hart as often as your predecessor?!
No one really cares if you are miserable so you might was well be happy. (Cynthia Nelms)
