Hi Everyone!
I've been living in Chalfont St Peter for 10 years now, along with my wife & 2 children. A neighbour told me about this forum so here I am! I like the community spirit and character of the village, especially my road (Criss Grove). My neighbour mentioned this forum at a meeting to oppose a development in Criss Grove & surrounding area. It's bad enough for those nearby, but we want to alert the wider community, as it threatens a big area of Green Belt land and gardens to the West of the village. If you feel the same way about preserving the character of the village, take a look at www.SaveChalfont.org.uk (please be patient as it's "under construction") |

Hi Helen,
OK, here's a copy of what's at Threat to Green Belt land in Chalfont St Peter Developers are trying to build an access road through to Thorpe House playing fields. This is a serious threat to Green Belt land on the Western edge of Chalfont St Peter. Michael Shanley Homes has submitted plans to demolish 2 houses in Criss Grove, replacing them with 9 "houses" (2 terraces of 2 and 3 bedroomed dwellings) and access roads to Thorpe House playing fields and to the gardens of Austenwood Close. (details) [ http://www.savechalfont.org.uk/plan.html ] In itself this is bad, as it would overload the already overstretched parking, traffic and drainage in the immediate area. But the wider implications are far worse as it threatens a huge area of Green Belt land on the Gold Hill side of the village. This dangerous "toe on the door" needs to be stopped in its tracks! Having gained access, Green Belt rules can be overturned on various grounds. How can you help? 1) Most importantly, write to the council, objecting to the proposed development, along these lines: [ I'll spare you this bit, see website - or ask me for a separate post ..... 2) If you have any information that you think may help, pass it on by email to: info@SaveChalfont.org.uk Theres a sketch of the plan (how can I attach it here to save you the trouble of visiting the site?) its at: |
