Not for the first time I’m enjoying a coffee in the Kitchen Larder and again am staggered by the number of people who cross the road over to the Barclays Bank side.
Some people can hardly walk but think it’s acceptable to totter across.....
This is an accident waiting to happen and I really think that the Council need to carry out a study and either put up barriers to stop it happening or instal a proper crossing.
This is not a rant, just a concerned person not wanting to read about a future serious injury.

They did as the crossing used to be by Barclays bank. They moved it further up the market place to avoid incidents which occurred at the existing location. It is a personal choice to walk up and use the crossing or just cross over.

I don’t consider whether it is ‘acceptable’ to others as to how I do or don’t cross a road

There is a question posed in the heading of this topic.

The answer is 'No.'

I’m not so sure it is a straight no, lots of people cross there, maybe a bit further down more outside the nursery would be better but it is a tricky spot, especially around rush hour.

There have been accidents around that area, from the narrow part of road next to the Greyhound to one in recent times in the Market Place. Yes it is dangerous to cross the road when there is fast-moving traffic. You are at risk. I have been hit by a car while crossing the zebra crossing on the Market Place as the driver was not paying attention. We have to operate with the attention that some car drivers will not see people.
