We have identified a new modus operandi where offenders are targeting metal type storage/shipping containers and breaking into them and stealing goods. An incident on Burtons Lane, Chalfont St Giles in the early hours of the 7th January resulted in such containers being opened by the sites digger. Please can owners of such containers look at their current security measures and consider increasing locks on them and ensuring that expensive items stored inside are crime marked or identifiable. Please contact your local TVP neighbourhood team for further crime advice. Edited by watsy - 10 January 2019 at 9:14am |

Burglaries - Crime Prevention Advice There have been a number of burglaries in the area over the last month, particular in Chalfont St Peter, Chalfont St Giles and Little Chalfont. The Neighbourhood team is working with residents to target harden their properties. In line with this please find below crime prevention advice to help reduce the chances of your property being targetted. During the winter months there will normally be an increase in the amount of burglaries. This is mainly due to the burglar using the cover of darkness and being able to identify and target empty properties. Here are some tips on how to make your property less appealing to criminals.
Please report any suspicious activity immediately to Police, registration numbers of any vehicles and descriptions of persons acting suspiciously. We had a couple of distraction burglaries where the criminals have posed as workmen (water board, electricity board etc.) and have talked their ways into properties, usually elderly residents. If you have not booked an appointment for a service and have any concerns that the person at the door may not be legitimate, ask them for their identity card and call your usual company to confirm their identity. Legitimate workmen will understand your precautions and will be patient; the criminal may walk away. If you would like a member of the neighbourhood team to visit your property and discuss your security please email the appropriate neighbourhood.
