Latest from the BBC Weather Centre:

"We are keeping a watchful eye on the southeast of England and East Anglia for a decent covering of snow this evening, from rush hour onwards. We could see as much as 10cm on high ground around Kent, further inland around London maybe as much as 3cm. This is certainly something to take note of as disruption is likely and the further prospect of plummeting temperatures will mean ice.

This cold snap is set to stay with us in the UK certainly for the rest of this week with further snow showers and temperatures only struggling up to 2/3 degrees Celsius during Wednesday and Thursday."

It's stopped snowing up here too, sun's out again. I find all these reports of oodles of snow hard to believe.

The flurry started with a mild hail then tried to snow.

Hopefully it'll snow on Saturday and be gone by Sunday evening.

baggles, my office overlooks the bus station so it's ideal Chav spotting territory.  What with the Chavs, and this forum, some days I get nothing done at work!!  Beauty of being the boss I guess!

from metcheck :

Flash Weather Warning
Issued [Monday February 21 2005 : 1:52:00 PM]

TOI: MONDAY 21 FEBRUARY 2005 - 13:45Z

Southeast England

An advancing trough and favourable upper level conditions will allow more substantial and quite widespread snow showers to push into East Anglia and Southeast England this afternoon and into the evening. Forecast atmospheric profiles show deep instability within the atmosphere, as a result some moderate to heavy snow showers could occur. This evenings rush hour may well be disrupted. General totals of 1 to 5cm are expected, but some locally higher totals may occur.

Eastern Scotland, Northeast England, Central & Eastern Midlands

Sleet and snow showers will persist throughout these areas during the next 12 to 24 hours. Places immediately surrounding the East Coast will see mostly rain or sleet, however further inland precipitation will be of snow. Due to a more substantial Easterly component to the wind, the showers will make some significant inland penetration. 1 to 5cm is again generally expected, but upto 10cm locally could occur.

If you have a journey planned for the period in the regions mentioned, you are advised to stay informed of the latest forecasts and travel information.

Please follow all local TV & Radio warnings for more information.

The possibility of 2 inches of snow and people act like it's the apocalypse! Good grief! You'd think we'd be better able to deal with this in this country - it's not exactly the Med isit?!

I think that most Poms like a bit of snow, although they would never admit to it.......

Condoms should be used on every conceivable occasion.
