Thank you all for your lovely comments,
It is great to look back at the old village and that some one has had a passion to photograph and record places/events, seventy or more years ago there was not many photographers like there are today, can imagine how it must have been in those days such a complicated expensive Job/hobby, they must have been very dedicated. Now-a-days theres thousands that have taken up the hobby, In years to come there be an inexhaustible supply of old photos which future generations will enjoy.

Of course the great thing about life today is that it is possible to keep in
touch from so far away. After spending my entire childhood and early part
of adult life living in Chalfont St Peter it is fantastic to reminisce about days
gone by but also to look at photos of the village taken recently to see how
things look now. The recent pictures of Market Place with Christmas
decorations up were fantastic. Great to see that the powers that be and the
villagers have improved on just Christmas trees with coloured bulbs above
each shop. Therefore, thanks Steve for taking a great deal of time to post
those photos!

The shop next to the "Jolly Farmers after Mr Wells was called Averys one of the ladies was named Phylis Avery.
The party shop was originally Robertsons the butchers and then it became Finchs Grocers, Mr George Finch owned it and Mrs Christine Spong was the manager, she was a really smashing person, I worked there in the early 60's when it was located over the other side of the road roughly behind the bus shelter before the awful precinct was built.
