Yes, I also remember the bag of crisps for a penny. used to buy a packet every Sunday with my collection money, instead of going to church. well until about 4 weeks before the "Sunday school outing" Then we had to go. Mrs Jeevs was a very forgiving lady. Back to the crisps, I used to buy them until I dropped some in the Misbourne, at the water splash by the greyhound. when they hit the water, there was such a slick of oil from them, it pretty well put me off crisps for years. |

Does anyone remember the proper confectioner/tobacconist in Market Place as well? Had a seat for tired small people to sit on (and old ladies) and had all the proper sweeties in big glass jars eg bonbons etc etc. They also sold Milky Ways - I was allowed one each Friday afternoon and they cost 2p and then went up to 2 1/2p. I got one after picking up the mince from Allum and Glanfield butchers and 200 Silk Cut from Victoria Wine, for my mum. I must have been about 5?!!! |

Yes, I do. I was going to start a dedicated thread. I have been a bit busy this last couple of weeks.
