Topic: Fake It! Posted: 19 January 2005 at 5:15pm |
I see the Fake It shop is being refurbished.
Is it to reopen as the same type of business or something else? I know they applied for a licence to serve coffee's ????
Lets hope it reopens as a coffee shop / tea room!!!

They've put the nails bit in what was the beauty room at the back of the original shop.
When they opened Fake It 2 I (personally) think the buzzy noisy atmosphere of the nail bar wasn't compatible with the calm relaxing atmosphere they needed to have for the massage and 'spa-type' services, so the mix never really worked to my mind.
I still don't know what they intend to do with their empty unit though - anyone any ideas? Did they get their planning permission for a tea room?

I think the last place to get a permission to change usage to a tea room became an Indian restaurant.

Hello, Fake It was orginally one shop and the sunbeds and massage was very busy so we decided to open another shop just for this purpose but it was not as b usy as we thought and overheads were very high. we then decided to put nails up to the other shop, but it was not compatible to the spa type service and the two business partners who have been friends for over 15 years missed the banter and day to day working enviroment. We started the shop to provide a good service and for us to enjoy our woking enviroment and by putting the two shops back together we can now achieve this. We were turned down by the council for a trendy coffe/tea shop as they were scared we would open another indian.
19 market place is going to become a trendy home furnishing shop with nice bits and pieces.

Hiya Helen, welcome to the forum. Good to hear the news from the 'horses mouth' so to speak. Many good wishes for the amalgamation of both businesses again.

Once bitten, twice shy I suppose; but it is crazy. The one thing the village is crying out for is a tea room / coffee shop that doesn't just cater for the over 80's and Halls doesn't have enough room for the demand of people for a short break over a coffee and a snack.
Perhaps one of the Indians will close so a new application/change of business will not be required and we can get our coffee shop.

Aah, so that is the indian restaurant that may be closing. The people running the Tabla were quite upset when clients kept going before Christmas and asking when they were closing!
