Normally we would have all been in for the full day today because there's no such thing as poets day in our office, but everyone was working until 5am this morning at election counts before returning to the office this morning to write up the coverage. I left the office at about 2pm and Estelle was still there. I'm surprised no one was there when you called because the receptionist would have been able to take a message.

Everyone will be back in on Monday, apart from me because I'm on holiday next week.

I don't know if  you saw the Politics Show today. Are you going to confront that dreadful GX Tory woman regarding the comment she made about a "BlacK Leader"? People like this who claim to be pillars of society locally should be EXPOSED for what they really are

I don't think you should persecute people for their views, however misguided.

Far better for her to say what she thinks as long as it's legal and I don't think what she said was unlawful.

Helen,

For the record, I don't think it was unreasonable for
the editorial department to leave at 5pm on Friday.

All the reporters and the news editor were covering
the election on Thursday and most did not get more
than a few hours sleep.

They were back in the office by 9am on Friday to write
up their reports.

The fruits of their labour (if you will excuse the pun)
will be in this week's Advertiser.

There should be 24hr coverage - Cal yourselves a Newspaper?! Only kidding - everyone should be able to leave early on a Friday (but try telling my boss that!)
