You really are a lazy b****r Malc, can't walk to the ticket machine any more than you can walk to the crossing which isn't quite opposite M&S!!!!!

If you are able to reach the ticket machine without leaving your car then you must have a left-hand drive, or, more likely, you are disobeying the arrows and are driving the WRONG WAY!!!

Well, the parking used to be 'free'.  So you never had the admin. grief of walking to a ticket machine, pushing a button, walking back to your car, unlocking it, putting aforesaid sodding little bit of paper on your dash and then going about your real business in CSP.

No, of course it was never really free - you paid for it through council tax.

Now you still pay council tax AND you pay for parking  AND you're stuffed for extra admin.

I hate my council.

The free hour will be gone soon, was voted not to continue the free hour at the parish council meeting recently as it cost CSP Parish Council £27,000 per year for the free hour.

This means it will be the same to park in Chalfont as it is across the district.

I wonder if the council has asked CDC how much it would be to buy the car park from them? It may be more sensible to put £25k a year away and buy the car park outright.
I used to be with it. But then they changed what it was. Now what I'm with isn't it, and what's it seems scary and weird.

What reduction in the Parish part of the Council Tax will there be if CDC is not being paid compensation for not collecting a fee for 1 hour parking?

Buying the car park seems a good idea then our car park will really be ours.  But surely it would still be necessary to charge for parking in order for there to be a fund for upkeep.

The lack of logic and common sense in councils amazes me. 1 mile away in GX, we are going to get a huge Tesco with free parking. Surely the parish council should be looking to encourage people to shop in CSP. An charge for parking will only mean more people will avoid CSP and go to Tesco in GX instead.

If we have to lose the free hour, then how about making the charges more geared for short term parking.

30p for 1 hour  (Currently Free)

70 for up to 2 hours (Currently £1)

£1.50 for upto 3 hours (Currently £1.50)

£3.00 upto 4 hours (Currently £2.00)

£5.00 up to 10.5 hours (Currrently £3.00)

At present it costs £1 for 2 hours but only £3 for 10 hours!

I thought the point of introducing charges in Church Lane was to stop it being full up of people who worked in the village, and therefore there not being enough spaces for shoppers.  £3 for the whole day isn't going to deter most workers.  It should be racked up once you get past 5 or 6 hours, no shoppers would need to stop that long, and workers might be deterred at that point.
