Hello,

My Grandfather, according to the 1921 Census, was Headmaster of Boys' Elementary School (C of E?) in Chalfont. Does anyone have any information on this and where it was?
He lived, according to the records, at Somercotes and maybe at Bunkley Cottage, Lower Road. I have looked but cannot find either.
If anyone can shed some light on this I would be extremely grateful !

I think the building in front was the second one built, the first I remember reading somewhere was the Boys School built somewhere around the turn of the century with the school enlarged to both buildings by 1925 according to the OS map I have.

Somercotes was on the left between Kingsway and School Lane, roughly 66 Lower Road, according to an old street directory.

1929 & 1931 street directories show A. Grove at Somercote but by the 1933 name directory there was no mention of A. Grove.

My grandmother rented Somercotes on Lower Road back in the 1940's, it was a detached house, possibly the one at 58 Lower Road occupied by the Veterinary surgery
