I appreciate that this site is centred around Chalfont St Peter but I came across the following link about Amersham's old shops, a fascinating piece of history, which I thought may be of interest to people on here:

On the last page of the link, it mentions Bowyers pie & sausage factory - wasn't that previously called Brazil's?

I remember Renshaws, on the left-hand side going up the hill just before the railway bridge. They were credit drapers and a Mr Welby (?) used to come out as far as CSP on his rounds selling clothes and other goods on credit, i.e., weekly payments, marked up in a book. You could actually go to their shop on the hill to see what they had to offer - this was late 1950's early 1960's.
