Thank you for your post, it seems we are all chix sh*t on the site, give it large with all of our opinions, but no one comes through. I dont care can use any of my posts as long as they dont sue me.

Start on the Chamber of Commerce first

then

Rubbish collection- must be weekly

then

Housing green belt area

then

Council tax should be based on house size and people not the area you live in this is discrimination.

I'm afraid using 'anonymous' posts from the forum is
usually not right for stories. What we need is people
actually calling the office to talk to reporters who are
willing to go on the record and be named. When
someone is not named in a story there is always a
genuine reason.
If you want to talk about your issues with the
chamber of commerce, rubbish, housing etc, then
please do contact us on 01753 888333 or feel free to
write a letter for publication.

Dear Editor,

A few people had a meeting last night how to market and make the people of csp aware of the chamber their history and what we can do to move forward to make more community spirt, and the fact that help and funding is needed. The bucks advertiser did not come out very well with the fact people have asked for some free space and things do not get published. I am sure they are wrong and you would be willing to help us as we the people buy your paper, which improves circuclation(excuse my spelling im rubbish) and as a individual i advertise on a regular bases. Please can you give us some commitment and support.

Kind regards

Dear Helen,

Thanks for taking the time to post. There appears to
have been a break-down in communication within
the office regarding coverage of the chamber of
commerce. I can only apologise and we will make
amends next week.
I can assure you of our full support and commitment
and am sorry we have not given the relevant
coverage this time.

Thanks again for posting. Your feedback is
appreciated.

As always, feel free to contact me personally if you
want to discuss this further.

Peter we wont to raise public awareness of what the chamber does and get some money from people to make the village better ie like 10 pounds from every household would be fantastic would mean great baskets xmas lights cctv etc. There are a number of people who would like to talk to you prehaps we can set up a meeting.

Eddie,

The poster refers to the story on the front page
regarding the former Blue Cross site. Where
possible the bill posters refer to the individual areas
but in some cases they refer to stories of more
general interest.

Helen,

Feel free to give me a call and we can arrange a
meeting.

Normally we would have all been in for the full day today because there's no such thing as poets day in our office, but everyone was working until 5am this morning at election counts before returning to the office this morning to write up the coverage. I left the office at about 2pm and Estelle was still there. I'm surprised no one was there when you called because the receptionist would have been able to take a message.

Everyone will be back in on Monday, apart from me because I'm on holiday next week.

Hello Peter,

I don't know if  you saw the Politics Show today. Are you going to confront that dreadful GX Tory woman regarding the comment she made about a "BlacK Leader"? People like this who claim to be pillars of society locally should be EXPOSED for what they really are

I don't think you should persecute people for their views, however misguided.

Far better for her to say what she thinks as long as it's legal and I don't think what she said was unlawful.

Posted By: Bucks Ad Editor

Helen,

For the record, I don't think it was unreasonable for
the editorial department to leave at 5pm on Friday.

All the reporters and the news editor were covering
the election on Thursday and most did not get more
than a few hours sleep.

They were back in the office by 9am on Friday to write
up their reports.

The fruits of their labour (if you will excuse the pun)
will be in this week's Advertiser.

Her comment was one line of a 6 minute segement on tory grassroots voting for the leader of the party. Having watched the clip I can find no malice or racism in it. I feel this is a political issue raised by a Labour cllr on another forum with a personal axe to grind and as such has been deleted from this site.

Well I'm only grateful he alerted me to it .

Is it really acceptable in this day and age to have prominent local people saying things like " If we leave selection to MPs we might end up with a Black Leader"?

You DON'T KNOW these people Dan . I DO. They  are like dinosaurs from an age when people still worked "in service" and "Black People" were considered an inferior species.

EDIT and I find your deletion of that thread offensive and self opinionated. Can I not express an opinion?

I agree they are like dinosaurs and we should all await the comet that will wipe them out with glee. However, the woman did not say " If we leave selection to MPs we might end up with a Black Leader". Someone elses comments from another forum, who has emphasised the word 'black' by using capitals to show emphasis where there was none in either tone or inflection, and was specifically designed and written to stir up either racial tension or play the race card against another party because of his own political views does not belong on this board.

We have back issues for the last 15 years or so as
bound copies at the office in The Vale. If you come in
during office hours and don't need to speak with a
reporter then it's fine to just turn up.
More extensive back issues are available at the
county library in Aylesbury, I'm not sure if they're on
microfiche there.

Not quite sure what you’re after here. I go out with guy, nothing happens. So I find another guy to go out with. Any sleaze which may/might have occur/ed couldn’t be reported in a family newspaper anyway. Sarah’s dating life - somewhat uneventful, but still trying to find someone. It’s not easy you know.. it’s a jungle out there, full of idiots and something Bridget Jones called men which started with the word ‘emotional’ for those who have read book/seen film.

As for picture. Peter wants me to have a new picture taken. I hate having my picture taken and am avoiding it like the plague at the moment. However, I will put up one of my own photos of the scarecut just for the forum.

When I went to see Jack Dee at wycombe he brought out a local paper (not sure which one)  on stage and read the adds and then made a comment about what type of place is this while reading about a male massage parlour then tore it out and put it inside his top pocket.

Hello!

You gave Robertswood PTA a wonderful write-up re their forthcoming auction, last week - thank you, Luke.

However, we are fighting a serious outbreak of apathy and still need to sell loads more tickets to make this event valid so is there any chance you could give us another boost in the paper this week, please?

Tickets are only £3.50 and the lots are for every pocket - from babysitting, through makeovers to gold discs and signed sport shirts (see attachment from Robertswood PTA member). Even if people can't actually be there, they can leave commission bids etc. People to contact Sam Maguire on 01753 880393 for further details.

Hope you can help us...

Photos have to be ordered through reception or using the form in the newspaper which is usually on page 10.

You need to know the page, edition and C-code of the picture to order.

This is then sent off electronically to Canary Wharf where it is processed and printed.

Send the information through for Ben's attention and we'll happily put something together.

With the panto, is it open to the public? We could do something for The Guide. The deadline will be December 28 for the first issue of the new year. The last edition for this year has already gone.

The panto is at the end of Jan, when everyone is bored and has nothing to look forward to!

It is open to the public but tickets do sell like hotcakes (especially Saturday night, by which time we're all a little worse for wear, as we have a little refreshements area in our "dressing room" ie classroom. This consists of a fully stocked fridge etc etc.) By the way, this bit is NOT for publishing

I'll speak to the panto group and arrange something for a photo, which I think usually happens and possibly a write-up?

I've heard that Dr Challoners High School in Little Chalfont is closed tomorrow (Tues) due to foam fallout from the Hemel fire. Do you know if any other schools are considering closing?

It is closed because they have no emergency services available if there was a need so they have been forced to shut down. (Info from Lelsley H S by the way!)

All the schools in Chesham, Amersham and Little
Chalfont have been closed today after an order from
the Heath Protection Agency.
If anyone wants to comment, please feel free to call
either Ben or myself on 01753 888333 or the
Examiner reporters on 01494 792626.

If you send through information and we can organise
a time to take a picture, preferably daytime or a
Saturday morning, then it would be fine. Please bare
in mind The Guide's deadline is a full eight days
before publication.

Hi Sarah,

Re Robertswood Panto, Erica Cheetham is the person who usually contacts you about this and arranges photos. I spoke to her last Thurs about deadlines and she said she would contact you - I'd better get off her toes fast

Hi Sarah/Bucks Ad person,

A colleague of mine from Robertswood PTA sent through an email last week for the attention of Ben Steele, regarding the forthcoming Indulgence Evening in aid of Diabetes UK.

To date, Ben has not replied...is he still there or should I speak to the ever-efficient Luke Cross instead? We'd really like some coverage on this please and are disappointed that the email has been ignored. It was sent on 10th Feb and the lady who sent it asked that he contact her...will Ben be doing so?

Please advise.

Please can I point you to the new thread "Water - NO compensation" on this forum? It might be worth a reporter ringing Three Valleys Water to verify what I was told today about their policies on compensation and also on maintenance of pipes...

I cannot answer your questions as I don't work in the same office, or even
county as Ben and Luke. I can't even confirm if they've received the e-
mail. Ben is still at the Advertiser. The staff are Ben, Luke and Sean.
If you really need to speak to a reporter it is always best to telephone
01753 888333 because then you know they've received the information.

I'd be interested to know if the Robertswood Strawberry Fayre was advertised at all in the Bucks Ad, before the event on July 1st and whether a write-up has been done? Last year an editorial was run both before and after the event and I was rung up for quotes etc. This year I have seen nothing, depite having emailed your people 2 weeks before the due date.....

Presses are in Watford Tobic.

The company prints most of its newspapers for the South East there, and the Daily Mirror.

Chalfont has the Advertiser's three reporters, the news editor, content editor and a receptionist.

I wonder if you sent it when the company's e-mail server went down for 48 hours last month.

If you ever need to contact a reporter it's always best to call during office hours. You're always guaranteed to speak with someone.

The post doesn't say contact through the site, but actually puts the phone number first. I was still with the paper when it was posted, and the idea was to encourage people to phone the newsroom, and hope people would use this section to discuss stories etc.

I can't say what the situation is about monitoring the forum from the Chalfont office these days, as I don't work there any more.

Peter doesn't work for the paper, or in fact the company any more. The editor is Julie Voyce and her e-mail is mailto:julievoyce@trinitysouth.co.uk - julievoyce@trinitysouth.co.uk .

But as I said, if you desperately need to speak with someone, the only way to guarantee this 100 per cent is on the phone.

Good Morning,

Many thanks for your comments.

Unfortunately our reporters were not able to attend
every summer fair, fete or event over the last couple
of months.

Some of the ones we have covered include Chalfont
Fair, Denham Fair, GX Fun Run, C St P CofE School
Fair, Jordans Fair, Seer Green Cherry Pie Fair, C St
P Feast Day, C St P Infants School Fair, C St Giles
Strawberry Fair, Chiltern Cheshire Fete,
Beaconsfield Awareness Day, Stoke Poges Fair,
Fulmer Day - I expect I have missed a few off the list.

For any we can't attend, we urge people to send their
own photos and words in, and we will gladly try to get
a write-up into the paper.

I would also urge anyone who contacts the paper to
follow up on emails with a phone call. We are
flooded by emails every day, and sadly, the system
does on occasion fail and emails are sometimes
lost.

The current team of reporters is:
Luke Cross
Ben Smith
Sean O'Hare

We are all very keen to hear from you and can be
contacted on 01753 888333.

We do try to keep an eye on the forum - and as Sarah
kindly pointed out, we hope it will encourage people
to discuss stories or call in.

Look forward to hearing from you.

Luke

I should imagine that these school fairs generate a lot of sales of newspapers.

Posted By: moggies
Date Posted: 29 July 2006 at 12:11am

I emailed details of Robertswood School's Strawberry Fayre to you two weeks before the event. Included in the email were my details, including contact number.

I would have thought it only polite that if you realise you cannot possibly cover an event, you would have contacted me to let me know. Strange as it may seem, taking photos doesn't register as a huge priority to the organisers on the day, but I'm sure that if I had known about the problem in advance, that I could have asked others to take appropriate photos and send them through to you.

And what a shame that you could manage CSP infants but not Robertswood on the same day - or was that something to do with the fact that they had Linford Christie to open it? I would have thought your photographer could have spent 45 minutes at one event and then gone on to the other?

Last year you gave us a write up before and after the event - this year you couldn't even be bothered to write a few words at either stage. Shame on you Luke...How sad that the Bucks Ad has decided to ignore the least visible primary school in CSP yet again, whilst the CSPVA has given us more support than ever this year.
