Eaten out a couple of times this week and can report the following! Had lunch in The Ethorpe on Tuesday, DREADFUL!! Service appalling, rude, unhelpful waiter who acted as if he didn't want us there, dirty table, asked for 5 different wines from their hardly extensive wine list before we got one they actually had, lukewarm, bland food. Won't be heading back in a hurry!! Such a shame as it has such great potential.

Had dinner at The Greyhound Inn yesterday, superb!! Staff who were friendly, helpful, charming and genuinely went out of their way to give us a nice experience, fantastic food, nice atmosphere, 10 out of 10! About a year ago had a terrible experience here so hadn't been back but with their performance this week we shall be regulars. Really can't say enough good about our experience this time.

Totally agree with everything you said about the Ethorpe.

The shame is the ethorpe has so much potential , but agree that the last few times have been poor .

It's been about 18 months since I ate at the Greyhound and we took some foreign friends (from a wine producing country)and their infant, in there to sample their early 2 for 1 supper deal. The food was very good, but the dining room had a group of youths in who were drinking but apparently not eating, and their bad language, shouting and tussling spoiled the experience. Unavoidable, maybe, but another poor aspect which was avoidable was the dreadful selection of wines on offer - all of them Spanish, all cheap quality sold at high prices. Our crestfallen friends, who are by no means wine snobs, could not drink the tannin rich, tongue dessicating red wine. Not been back since.

Haven't tried the Greyhound for years since the rude unhelpful staff who we thought were trying to see if they could fit us in , left us waiting and didn't come back to say they couldn't.

Friends over this weekend wanted to eat in the Ethorpe before going on to Wembley. I directed them to Wildwood instead after hearing recent experiences at Ethorpe.

the ethorpe has never been the same since the it went all branded, it was the place to be in the 1970'80s inbetween the bernie inn thing which was horrible.

How is it good, Walrus? Do give us some detail to persuade us to visit. We don't want 'good', these days. With all the competition, we demand 'excellent'.

Wildwood is probably one of my favourite places to eat out. Service is top class and food is excellent if you like that kind of thing. Every time I go I have to have one of their fresh mint lemonades.
