Stovies is lovely winter stew orignally from Scotland.
It consists of peeled and diced large potatos, sliced onions, sal, pepper and any meat of your choice.
 
The following recipe was taken from google, but is explains it better than i can. It fillinf and "oh so" cheap to make.
 

Sausage Stovies

Ingredients


2 lb Potatoes
1 lb Onions
1 lb Sausages
1 Tsp Sage
1 Tsp Thyme
2 Beef Stock Cubes
Salt and Pepper

Method

  • Peel and slice the potatoes and peel and chop the onions.
  • Dice the sausages.
  • In a baking dish put a layer of potatoes, a layer of onions and a layer of sausage.
  • Season to taste and sprinkle over half the herbs.
  • Continue the layers until you have used up all the ingredients, ending with a layer of potatoes.
  • Sprinkle on the rest of the herbs.
  • Dissolve the stock cubes in 1 pint of hot water and pour into the baking dish.
  • Bake in a medium oven, 350F, for 40 minutes.
