it always amazes me the farmer puts up defences, digs big holes and still they get through, half the time i have to admire their determination and  what lenghts they go to, if only they could apply this to something useful, what a asset they would be to society.

i reckon it's carlos's old fiesta....

i bet a fiesta would not last that long, I thought this might be a jag beacuse the shape of the door window, the engine is still there i think buried few feet under the earth, i might have a closer look next time i take the dog out that way again

If that is a back door and a window that doesn't fully retract, reminds me of an old car.

Like the one that went missing in that murder in the mid sixties around these parts.....

Don't let your dogs swim in the pools of water up there.  My sister in laws dog swam up there last summer, later started fitting and didn't recover, the vet had to put him to sleep.

what was the matter with the dogs my girls swim there alot?

You have to be careful with dogs swimming in water that may contain algae, particularly blue-green algae which is harmful to animals. Not sure if Leachcroft is deep enough to be affected and might just be polluted with something else but I think the aquadrome in Rickmansworth has warnings about it.

yuck ...I hate to think what's been dumped in those woods and leeched into the water (heavy metals etc from car batteries for example). Plus rats (Weils disease etc)

There wasn't anything wrong with the dog.  He was definitely fit and healthy, and very good natured (not that it has anything to do with it)  And I am not certain of which "puddle" he was swimming in, but it was definitely Leachcroft Woods.  But nevertheless, he started fitting within hours of being in one of them, he wouldn't stabilise so they had no alternative, as he was fitting badly, and would certainly not have been the same dog that he was if he recovered.

Agreed algae is not good for any mammal.  It was during the rather hot part of last summer, so between August and September it happened, so there might have been algae, I am more convinced its something else nasty leaked into the water.

Mind you gone are the days of swimming in Black Park too...

Leachcroft woods used to be a fantastic place to us kids in the 50.s...from half hour pond through to the railway........no harm ever came to any of us...........from morn till dusk, playing cowboys and indians, cops and robbers.....being scared what lied beneath the waters of the pond............lol...it was a grand life.........

Pity the kids today dont have the freedom we did.............but with all the creeps and pedo.s around ,its a sick world....
