There are traffic lights!!!!! Just like there are traffic lights on the stretch before the petrol station.

No difference.

If it was a zebra I might agree, but people have been crossing for years without traffic lights.

They are still RED LIGHTS which stop the traffic.

there are red lights which stop the traffic outside tatling end fire station.... would you cross there ?

Malc dont be daft....

its not a designated pedestrian crossing....

use your head...the new crossing is going in for pedestrians on the a40, its the type with the please wait sign and the little green man showing PEDESTRIANS when its safe to cross....

i suggest when you crawl past at 2mph you take a good look,  its a pedestrian crossing not a traffic signal at a road intersection.

I used to cross the Western Avenue.  Basically the principle of it is that the red lights stop the traffic, whether they are doing 30mph, 40 mph or even 50 mph. You are then safe to cross the road.

If the bridge - and subsequent crossing - were/are there simply to allow access to north-bound bus services (OK, and the garden centre), then a cheaper, simpler and less controversial solution would have been to divert the buses onto the A412 to loop at the turning point & pick up passengers before turning back onto the A40.

Now tell me I missed something

...and I'm still trying to work out why the A40 dual carriageway between Tatling End & the A412 lights is a 50 zone...the A413 will be next to go, mark my words.
The more that things change, the more they stay the same

I noticed a new speed camera sign by the crossing this morning. Not sure if it's just a general "reminder" that speed cameras exist in the UK or if there are plans to add one on this stretch of the A40 shortly.
Who is General Failure and why's he reading my hard disk?

I can't see why it can't have 2 lanes open each way and a higher speed limit.

The A40 is, after all, a trunk road, with the emphasis on moving high volumes of traffic as expeditiously as possible.  Whoever is 'managing' this is clearly failing in this regard.

It doesn't mean it's going to be a fixed camera, but a sure sign that the Police will be trapping motorists. Similar to the signs of Denham Lane.

It's quite hard doing 30mph on that road, I came out of the roadworks, kept my speed down and nearly caused two cars to have accidents as they were pulling into and out of the Denham Village turning. They were waiting for me to pass but me crawling along at 30mph seemed to cause them some confusion.
