New Shop Opens in Chalfont St Peter

Local MP Cheryl Gillan cut the ribbon at a brand new Rennie Grove Hospice Care charity shop on Monday 2 November. The Member of Parliament for Chesham and Amersham declared the shop in Chalfont St Peter open for business and a stream of customers ensured an excellent first day’s takings.

Shop manager, Sue Barry, said: “We’ve only been open for five hours on our first day but we’ve brought in nearly £400, which is fantastic.”

Cheryl Gillan addressed the crowd as she cut the ribbon, saying: “It gives me great pleasure to open the latest in the Rennie Grove chain of shops. It’s a wonderful organisation, which started off as Iain Rennie Hospice at Home 30 years ago and has brought peace and help to thousands of people in the local area. I’d like to thank all the volunteers who give their time so freely and everyone who has made this shop possible. It’s a fantastic location: easy to drop off your donations and to make your purchases.”

District Manager, Lisa Collinson, added: “There’s a car park round the corner and a bus stop just outside so hopefully people will pop in and see us regularly.”

Located at 2 The Broadway, the shop is the 23rd in Rennie Grove’s chain of charity shops across Bucks and Herts. It offers a range of good quality items for sale, including men’s, women’s and children’s clothes and shoes; handbags and jewellery; children’s toys; books and ornaments. Shoppers can also buy Rennie Grove’s recently launched range of Christmas cards, new for 2015.

Rennie Grove’s retail operation is responsible for bringing in more than £2 million towards the charity’s £6.7 million annual running costs.

Sue is looking for an Assistant Manager to support her part-time in the Chalfont St Peter shop, as well as volunteers who could give a few hours a week to help out behind the till, on the shop floor and behind the scenes sorting through donations.
