She lived mainly in Gerrards Cross - she moved out from London about 1960 and bought 66 Oak End and then later, from about 1963,  in a house called Elm Close at 85 Packhorse Road, opposite the Ethorpe Hotel.

In 1971 she had a fall and spent a long time in Chalfont & Gerrards Cross Hospital and during that time her husband Stringer Davies sold Elm Close and bought the smaller "Hatfield",  a bungalow in Joiners Lane, but she lived there only briefly and died in May 1972 - they are buried together at St James Church, Gerrards Cross.

(info from her biography "Dreadnought with Good Manners")

The lovely Margaret Rutherford lived at Chestnut Cottage on Joiners Lane, Chalfont St Peter, at the corner of Chestnut Lane, towards the end of her life and she passed away in the Cottage Hospital here.

There's a good bit about her in local author DJ Kelly's book 'The Famous and Infamous of The Chalfonts & District' [available in paperback online and locally from Office Direct stationers in CSP and Gerrards Cross Book Shop]. There's a unique photo of her in the hospital being visited by the Prime Minister of the day, who raised money to help her.

The book includes her husband Stringer Davies and also Violet Lang-Davies, who wormed her way into the couple's affections and robbed them.

Correction: As Anthony says, the bungalow was named 'Hatfield'. The couple also lived in apartment in Highway Buildings on the main road in Beaconsfield New Town.
