Well at least it kept three traffic cops off the road for half a day.

Maybe it has something to do with the fact that if motorists are warning other road users there's a speed trap, it completely defeats the object of having one. The whole idea of a speed trap is to deter speeding, something which is obviously needed locally considering the amount of people on here who think that they're entitled to drive over the limit, and it's not going to be much of a deterrent if people can avoid speed traps.
By the way, warning other motorists of a speed trap constitutes obstructing a police officer. |

Not true. If it was to deter speeding then motorists warning others to slow down wouldn't be a problem. Even a police car parked reduces speeding. A speed trap is to generate money and punish drivers, not deter speeding. |

I think the idea is that if you're nicked for speeding, you might think twice before doing it again. If you're warned of a speed trap, you can slow down as you go past and then put your foot down again. It's not designed to victimise motorists, it's designed to victimise self-entitled people who think that only certain laws should apply to them.

Which is 80% of drivers, including some police officers.

If only the penalties for housebreaking or mugging were as strict as for going a few mph over the limit, and as much resource.

Speeding fines area TAX. The good part is it is a VOLUNTARY TAX, I don't speed therefore I don't pay,if you don't want to pay, don't speed. Very simple really.
