How does it compare with Wildwood? I've not been in Metro, partly as it looks a bit "Pizza Huttish" from the outside.

I'd prefer a reasonably priced Lebanese/Mezze or Tapas restaurant to a gastro pub

I prefer Wildwood, but it's close.  The test will be when I have a "proper " meal at Metro and not Pizza/Pasta, but there is much more choice at Wildwood.

But then I prefer the Apple Tree to both of them.

It's difficult as I really don't like Wildwood (i know i'm in the minority but!), they offer a lot of choice because half of it comes out of a Brake Brothers packet(or whoever!) and I can buy an M&S ready meal if I want that! I too like The Apple Tree for a dinner out. But it is again that little more expensive. I suppose in my mind it is half way between a pizza express and a full blown italian restaurant. It is very like the kind of place you would find in Italy in a small village/town catering to locals, bit of pizza, bit of pasta a few main meals, cooked from fresh. I think it's an informal dining choice rather than a Apple Tree/Oaks kind of experience. But one or two up from pizza express! I don't really mind what goes into the Poachers so long as its nice!! Although a lebanese would be great! Used to be a nice one in Watford, wonder if we could entice them!!

Just as an update. We went to Metro Piazza as a large group with lots of children at the weekend and were sat upstairs to minimise our impact!! We had a really great informal meal, all the staff were fantastic with the kids, food was lovely, we thoroughly enjoyed it as we got a chance to catch up with each other, kids to socialise without spoiling the atmosphere downstairs! They were so accommodating. Incidentally the upstairs rooms are great for a large group/party.

Took one of my daughters for a father and daughter treat and had two pizza's with drinks which were really nice all for £12. As they have an all day special for 2 for 1.

My daughter loves the rabbit pizzas! I was talking to someone today who was saying that it is locally thought that Metro Piazza is owned by the same family as Cafe Madiera. It isn't, it is nothing to do with them at all. They had some connection with Funchal that was previously on that site but this is entirely new owners with no connection to any other establishment in the village. And very nice people they are too so if you haven't given them a go yet..... I think they might be running another promotional offer in February that will make it even more cost effective

I'd be more worried about ordering a ground beef pizza and it coming in the shape of a horse. LOL
