Ten arrested in crackdown on burglarsTEN people have been arrested as part of a Thames Valley Police crackdown on burglary and car crime in the Chilterns. Operation Guillotine 4 was launched on April 14 with extra officers, mounted and dog sections and road policing using extensive intelligence to swoop on offenders. A number of stop and searches have taken place with the arrests, on burglary, theft and drug offences charges, said to include local people and those who travel in and out of the district to commit crime. Inspector Peter Foy, of Chiltern local policing team, said: “We are using local officers, combined with specialist units such as the mounted section, dog units and roads policing to make neighbourhood's safer. “We ran this operation three times last year and as a result have had 150 less burglary victims in the area. Our officers are working late into the night, so if people don't see them they should be reassured that they are there. “We want those involved in crime across the Chilterns to feel very unwelcome and this operation seems to be having the desired effect.” A similar event held in the district last October also saw ten arrest made and community safety projects held in Chalfont St Peter, Chesham and Amersham as TVP continue their assault on burglars. |
