Not quite for a week, since the library only opens for 3.5 short days:
Closed Monday and Thursday (and Sunday of course), open 10am-5pm Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday, and 10am-1pm Saturday.

It is a big improvement on the 320 in their original proposal and a huge improvement on the 400 proposed by Chiltern District Council last year, so that shows the considerable influence of the lobbying work done by the Parish Council and by SENSE, backed by 'people power'.  But there's still a lot of problems to face and a lot of work to be done, and being done, trying to get a development more in keeping with the existing village character.

What the residents want is clearly either a school land site swap or a smaller development - to be in keeping with existing village character and densities there would be 100-120 dwellings on the HC site.

BUT, there is now talk of up to 500 new dwellings at the Newlands Park site !!!  That would take the whole development in CSP back up to the 800 level originally proposed by CDC in their first Draft Core Strategy!  Sneaky or what! Thank you Carol Castle, head of Planning at CDC.

That's the answer - what's the question?

Been to the latest Gerald Eve display at the library.
Pretty pictures.  Nice words.  Empty promises, such as a promise of a large sum of money for extra school places - where exactly are THEY going to be fitted in then!?  Sustainable?  I think not.
Access to care home and community use building (whatever that is) via Gold Hill East.  Access to all the house via Grange Road.

BTW, I hear that of the ("up to") 232 dwellings 60% are to be private, 25% social rented, and 15% shared ownership.
And that it will amount to 540 bedrooms (plus care home's 80).
According to proposals.
That's the answer - what's the question?

CDC now have a consultation portal - an online site for comments on their plans for housing.

I urge everyone to go there, register (easy) and make their opinions known.  This fight is still going on, and we need everyone to keep fighting if you think it is worth saving what we have.

Go to:

http://chiltern-consult.limehouse.co.uk/portal/planning_policy/core_strategy/dcs_march_2010

and register, and post comments/objections.

Also there is a paper being sent to all households by CDC today about the developments, called 'Housing for our Disrict - Shaping the future'.  It includes a questionnaire - an opportunity everyone should take to express their objections directly.  Question 1: Do you support the Draft Core Strategy?  NO
Reasons?  Lack of infracstructure, dwelling density still three times the existing density, developments to large too quick.  Better to develop part of Holy Cross site with school land site swap so there CAN be more school places (all schools currently have no room for expansion), and basic resources they don't have now such as canteens and playing fields - for the little darlings.

The paper disingenuously separate Newlands Park from Chalfont St Peter, but we all know where it is!

We have had some success, but there's still a long way to go, so please keep helping.  Don't winge to each other - winge to THEM!Smile

OK, the planning application is in as stated above - go here to view documents :

Some things to consider !

1. They are planning to steal around 1m from Lower Road at the junction with Grange Road to enable Grange Road to become a larger road than currently denominated - with the extra traffic it means they need to allow greater "visibility" from Grange Road onto Lower Road. This must mean they deem the junction as dangerous already ? Certainly we have to exercise extreme caution right now when exiting Croft Road...

2. If they narrow Lower Road at that junction, what happens to Lower Road itself ? Full double yellows ? The road is dangerous and narrow already with parked traffic, big lorries & trucks etc. What about the effective pathway for the ambulance from the station behind the library ? If they narrow the road will it present a delay threat to those in need of attention ?

3. No mention is made of the additional traffic that would be drawn along Lower Road to access the big new offices in Chiltern Hill. That development will only get bigger in time, with offices stretching behind the houses along the A413 - potentially as far as Hither Meadow.

4. Personally, not being a nimby, I see the need for something to happen to the site - but I would prefer to see single houses along the periphery to be in keeping with the existing housing along Lower & Croft Roads, not the potential rows of terraces and apartment blocks they currently present as the way forward. The more dense housing should be contained in the centre of the development where it makes more sense.

SENSE are holding a public meeting about the planning application and what we can/should do about it - next Monday evening at 7:30pm at the Community College, Narcot Lane.

This is an outline application only, mainly covering access, so if approved they can (and probably would) make significant changes later, probably to the detriment of the site and the village.

PLEASE NOTE:
Sense have a new website, the URL has changed to sense4csp.org, we had some issues with the old site and unfortunately had to change domain names.
Please attend our public meeting on 22nd March at 7.30 at the Chalfonts Community College, Narcot Lane. Further details are on the website, this is just a holding page - please also note, a small error, in the body copy it mentions a meeting on 20th - THIS IS WRONG, I am doing my best to get it amended.
Please tell as many people as you can about the meeting, time is short and we need to work fast.
Thank you

Chalfont St Peter Parish Council are holding an open meeting next Wednesday at the council offices to give people an opportunity to ask questions about the objections submitted by the council's planning advisors, CERDA.  CERDA have prepared objections on behalf of Chalfont St Peter to both the Draft Core Strategy and to the specific development proposals for Holy Cross/The Grange.
The meeting is at 7:30, Wednesday 26th May at the Council offices, Gravel Hill (near The Community Centre), SL9 9QX.  Tel. 01753 891582

This meeting went well, in that it gave an opportunity for local Councillors to meet with residents and with the planning consultant used by the parish council, to better understand the basis for the formal objections made on behalf of the village.  The planning consultant was able to demonstrate how CDC's Draft Core Strategy is fundamentally flawed, and why the Gerald Eve plans for Holy Cross should be rejected.

Despite being invited, very of our few local Councillors actually attended.

We keep up the pressure on CDC of course.
