Interesting reading the comments about Hall's.  The thing that irritates me and my wife consistently is the very slow service there for customers who only want to buy bread, etc.  The staff don't seem to understand the concept of quick, efficient service, and when customers are buying sandwiches & drinks, others who want to take away small items have to wait while usually the only person serving deals with orders that take longer.  I always tell myself I want to give them some feedback but haven't quite managed it yet.  So, I usually go elsewhere.  Why don't they have more staff and manage the two different types of customer?

I can see where you are coming from Beaver. May be they should have two queues. One for bread/cakes and one for the sandwiches/drinks.
Obviously if you are buying sandwiches and bread you should only have to queue in the sandwiches queue not one then the other!

Afraid my Mum & Dad fell foul of this.  THey went into Halls for a cup of coffee and assumed there were two queues as there were two counters.  The staff were really rude and so they have never been back.

Halls should decide what they want to be, a bakers or a coffee shop, especially as there is now a decent coffee shop in the village.

Where?
If you are referring to Top Crust then I beg to differ. They do not serve cakes and I like a piece of cake with my coffee on a Saturday.

But to be fair, it doesn't take much to pack out Halls. Is it 3 tables inside?

But it takes even less people for a shop to be empty....

I used to be with it. But then they changed what it was. Now what I'm with isn't it, and what's it seems scary and weird.

Now my weekends are more free I've tried Hall's twice.  I've found the coffee very good, the food has been fine but nothing special.  I don't find it a very nice environment to sit and eat.

We did buy a loaf of fresh bread that was very nice.
