A40 Oxford Road, Denham - Removal of remaining footbridge

Temporary Road Closure - From 20:00 hrs Monday 20/02/12 to 05:00 hrs Tuesday 21/02/12

Transport for Buckinghamshire is planning to carry out the removal of the last remaining two sections of the old footbridge structure using two large cranes.

To enable the works to be executed safely, Denham Road in both directions either side of the footbridge structures will have to be closed, It is planned to shut the road to traffic from 8 pm  on Monday 20th February 2012 and reopen the carriageway at 5 am. The road will be blocked at either side of the footbridge and closed to all through traffic for one night.  Temporary traffic diversions using alternative routes will be in operation for the duration of the road closure.  Vehicular access for the residents and businesses will still be possible up to the limits of the site.

Several days prior to the closure, advance priority work to remove all the old bolts/screws attached to the footbridge structure will be replaced, this will ensure that the actual removal of the bridge onto lorries does not take any longer than one night.          

Every effort will be made to carry out the works with minimum disturbance, however, there is a 7 day contingency period for possible bad weather preventing crane operations, Transport for Buckinghamshire apologises for any inconvenience that may be caused.
