    <![CDATA[<strong>Author:</strong> <a href="http://www.chalfontstpeter.com/forum/member_profile.asp?PF=608">Lynn Whitmore</a><br /><strong>Subject:</strong> Demolish the Precinct?<br /><strong>Posted:</strong> 24 July 2008 at 3:20pm<br /><br />Hi all<DIV>I have to say I agree with Past Villager, as a past villager myself.&nbsp; I can remember the site of the precinct when it was an open car park (I vaguely remember) with a ford crossing the road at that point.&nbsp; when the white monstrosity of the precinct went up, it caused considerable controversy as it was in no way compatible with the older 'village' style properties eg the pubs, other shops.... hideous.&nbsp; I can remember dumped cars being left in the precinct even, at that time.&nbsp; I would have thought that the average value of the properties in CSP deserve a more salubrious village centre.&nbsp; Unfortunately where I live how has identically the same problem with a similar style 1960s-1970s precinct which we'd all like to get shot of!&nbsp; Good luck getting rid of it as soon as possible (let me take a photo first for memory lane lol!).&nbsp; Hideous!&nbsp; Hideous!</DIV>]]>

    <![CDATA[<strong>Author:</strong> <a href="http://www.chalfontstpeter.com/forum/member_profile.asp?PF=608">Lynn Whitmore</a><br /><strong>Subject:</strong> Tales Of Chalfont<br /><strong>Posted:</strong> 24 July 2008 at 3:11pm<br /><br />Hi<DIV>I left Gravel Hill before you began there.&nbsp; I wonder why it closed?&nbsp; Unless due to an ageing residential population maybe, who had been there for years.&nbsp; We had Mr Berry as Head Teacher, followed by Miss Breedon who seemed to have quite left-wing views - very hippie in her physical appearance!&nbsp; Such a great shame it is no longer a school (with no disrespect meant to current residents!).&nbsp; We used to do cycling proficiency in the playground which I failed - the only one to do so in that group at least - which served as an early warning for my parents of the 11+ and drastic remedial action taken!&nbsp; We had teachers such as Mr Best, Mr Bennell, Miss Taylor (who then went on to Beaconsfield High School) - I wonder how they are doing now?</DIV><DIV>&nbsp;</DIV><DIV>Great memories, Lynn <img src="http://www.chalfontstpeter.com/forum/smileys/smiley20.gif" height="17" width="23" border="0" align="absmiddle" alt="Thumbs%20Up" /></DIV><DIV>&nbsp;</DIV><DIV>&nbsp;</DIV>]]>
